Island Cres

The island Cres, the second largest island of Adriatic Sea, lies in the Kvarner bay. Island Cres is marked by strong contrasts. Tourists find here idyllic places as well as small bays and untouched nature.
In the north of the island, above all, the mountains dominate, in the middle of the island, however, numerous olive groves as well as vineyards and in the south are found close covered Mediterranean vegetation.
The island is connected in the place Osor about a wheel bridge with the island Losinj. Besides, close to Osor there is a stone quarry which delivers qualitatively high-quality stones. For the tourists who search a peaceful vacation, the place Valun which lies in the bay of Cresski offers. Here numerous holiday apartments and rooms are found, in particular for families.
Also on the west side a touristically very nice and likewise quiet place, the fishing place Martinscica is found. The neighbouring place Miholascica is specified especially on family tourism and camping tourism. To the especially nice places of the island belong furthermore Ustrine and Valun. Valun offers, on this occasion, two fine gravel beaches with crystal clear water.
The principal place of the island is the island capital of Cres. It is an old port and stamped from earthy taverns, elegant street cafés and different restaurants with kitchen typical for land. The city of Beli which was one of the most important settlements already in the antiquity belongs to the most important places of the island furthermore. Besides, here the rare goose's vultures whose span can amount up to three metres live.
The probably most idyllic place of the island lies about 378 metres over the place, the city of Lubenice. It is liked, above all, because of the small and narrow lanes, at the same time it offers a miraculous view of the island as well as Adriatic.
